img_6920Hi! I’m Phoebe – mother of 2 very gorgeous kids and a keen sewer.

I learned to sew as a kid in outback Australia under the very patient tutelage of my mother. I would spend hours in front of mum’s old Elna sewing machine making stuffed toys, cushions, scrunchies, quilts and outfits for myself.

The highlight of our monthly trip to town was the small haberdashery shop where my mother, sister and I would pour over the latest pattern books and pick out fabric for our next project.

I honed my skills further at high school under the instruction of my wonderful sewing teacher – Mrs Timbes. She refined my sewing technique and taught me a few tricky things like smocking and embroidery.

Sewing didn’t get a look in during my 20’s and early 30’s as I was too busy working, adventuring and seeing the world. It wasn’t until I had my first child that sewing resurfaced in my life.

With a little encouragement from my mother and grandmother (a very talented seamstress) I dusted off my old sewing machine and started making outfits for my children and for others.

This blog is a record of my sewing progress….
